Do Well, Be Well, and Live Well
These are exciting times in the world! Gratitude is what will get us to our dreams faster. The more gratitude we have, the more great opportunities, friendships, relationships, and abundance will come our way. The higher our energy vibrates, the happier we are. And being grateful is what brings in this happier energy.
The biggest challenge today is not getting sucked into the social media negativity. It can be a warzone out there, and misery loves company, and miserable people love to hate. Keep your energy high by bypassing the whiners, and become a winner in your own world. Some people love to invent things to be angry about, especially when things don’t go their way. Whether politics, religion, or things not going well in their relationships or business, they love vomiting their anger for the world to see. Don’t look. It’s that simple.

I’ve never felt like I fit in most of my life. I was always painfully shy, and while some of that has subsided, I can still be a bit shy in a crowded room of strangers, but I don’t care to fit in. I am surrounded by people who think differently, but I almost relish the challenge, and I do this by rising above the hate of others. I learned from highly successful people that fitting in isn’t a good thing. Most people who achieve greatness have found they never fit in, for they did not succumb to the norm of society. Normal is boring. Herd mentality is boring, and the adventure is daring to be different. I am not talking about how you dress or live, but how you create your destiny. The average person just daydreams of a better life and is fearful of making a dream become their reality. The brave and daring souls never wanted to work for a corporation; they didn’t want to follow the norm but braved the journey and obstacles to their dreams. Entrepreneurs obviously don’t follow the norm.

The News Will Take You Nowhere, But to the Tank
Many years ago, I learned from a millionaire speaker and businessman that you will never become successful staying glued to the news, for the news will keep you paralyzed with the gloom and doom of the world. In order to achieve your dreams, you must stay positive and upbeat to fight the battles along the way. The news will only make you feel the impossible is exactly that. Today, the impossible is possible with focus, the proper mindset, and daily dedicated steps, no matter how big or small. The only news I need is the memories right here in my home.

Today, with the internet, we have access to much more information than ever before. We can learn just about anything on YouTube. If you want to build an owl house, find it on YouTube. If you want to build a cabin in the woods, YouTube it. You can learn many skills on YouTube that before, you had to go to school or attend a seminar to learn. Now it is at your fingertips.

The downside of the internet is that it can be exhausting at times. Suddenly, we have the world at our fingertips, but so does everyone else. One can get lost in the millions. This was one reason I started my Live Internet show: to bring exposure to talented people. First, you must kick social media and the news to the curb to stay focused. Keep your presence to a minimum. I am currently posting my photography, internet show, or my magazine to advertise, and I spend the rest of my time in face-to-face meetings.
Second, you must surround yourself with like-minded people who are going after a dream or people with a higher level of positivity who are for you and want to support you. This is the most valuable thing you can do. Ignore the grandstanding and the bragging of social media, for most things people post are not what they seem. When you are happy and doing great, you don’t have to shout about it.

The solution to social media and your business is to stand out through creativity. This has always been the case with small businesses, but with the influx of new businesses and the age of social media, most people are merely blending in. People still want to do what their competitors do, which amounts to the same-old, same-old. Here again, they just want to fit in. Fitting in won’t make you climb the ladder. Blending is boring. People who crave to fit in are not typically daring enough to go out on their own. They like playing it safe by keeping with the herd. Be brave!

Stand out, be different, and be bold at times. Experimenting with new ideas keeps the spice in your business. We see a world of “specialists,” even with doctors. Well, that works for doctors, but if you are selling something that everyone else is, you better find a way to be different or advertise differently.

As a photographer, I enjoy photographing all different subjects, animals, people, plants, objects, etc. I do this to challenge myself because no matter what I am aiming at, it’s about light. My first mentor, Mac Moss taught me that. I can learn something new no matter what I aim my camera at. Then, I take what I learn and use it with whoever I photograph. I would get bored doing one thing, day after day. Someone asked me the other day, “What do you specialize in?” I would say I enjoy the art of photography and playing with light. I love studio work, for I don’t have to fight the weather, and I love experimenting with different lighting I control. Not many photographers in town use studio lighting. I am always learning, and I enjoy outdoor photography as well. Light is important outdoors as well. We must learn to use it to our advantage, as we can’t control the sun. We learn to use tools to bring in the light. The other thing I would say that I specialize in is creativity. Not all photographers are artists, and some are not that creative. There are different types of photography; some require little creativity. No matter what type you are, you must learn to stand out.

This experimenting also applies to any art or field one may be involved in. There is a constant need to create, preventing boredom or staleness. I interview people in the arts worldwide, so I am always seeking different or stand-out artists. I also enjoy traditional artists as well. The beauty of art is in the eyes of the beholder. Everything has its place, and there’s a place for everything. I keep myself surrounded by creativity to rejuvenate my spirit and inspire me to move forward.

Delete, Deleter, and Delete
The noise of social media, politics, or the news media can weaken the creative side. Delete the noise to save your soul and creative mind. Its toxicity can destroy dreams, visions, and joy. People want to get revenge today, and that is also toxic. The best way to continue not fitting in is to do well, be well, and live well. Misery, we know, loves company, and when you can do well by focusing on your dreams and be well by learning and perfecting your skills, you will begin to live well. All these things are the best revenge. Don’t let people drag you into their hell. Be great!
I have always been a lion inside, long before I knew it. I have used my courage to take risks, fall, pick myself up again, and forge through difficult times. I never let obstacles stop me, and I've shed many tears along the way, but not without great laughter, joy, and happiness too. I face my fears, and each time I have, I have been grateful that I did, for on the other side is an opportunity that has been waiting for me to step through. Years ago, after interviewing an amazing Wildlife photographer in South Africa on my show, I bought one of his Lion prints and had it framed. I keep it nearby to remind me of the Lion in me.

It's The Little Things
I enjoy reminding myself of the little things that make me feel grateful. My partner, David, reminds me as well. I photograph little things around my home and memories to remind me of my blessings. I enjoy doing this during weather that keeps me isolated to keep my creative eye beaming. This gives me gratitude, which makes me smile.

I am also a person of strong faith, and I know that God sees the good I do. God sees the good any of us do. God is our vindicator and determines our value, not people. Keep on being good, learn to stand out in your skills and your business, and keep helping those who don’t deserve it. Keep gratitude high on your list, and you will attract better people, along with better opportunities.
My partner, David, has very strong faith and is my guardian angel. He is a good man, a strong man, the kindest man, and a great giver. He is my wonderful role model as a human being. Most people today can be so self-absorbed and caught up in the narcissism of social media. I hope to attract more people who are like him. Those are the people I want to work with. There should be more men like him on this earth. We are a team and lift each other up in tough times. Godspeed to the blessings that are coming. This is an exciting time to be alive!
