"Music Soothes the Savage Beast!"
We’ve heard this for years, and yet seldom we get to experience it. It sounds cliché and we use it, more of an expression, than in our own life experiences.
For years, my beloved dog Stella, who found me one day, and became mine, has had so many fears. I haven’t been able to get her to overcome them. Now, living in an apartment, I have to walk her, unlike her years in a fenced in backyard, where she was free to roam. Stressful, to say the least, as she won’t walk by most things, fearful of people, dumpsters, golf carts, and even coaxing with food, doesn’t work.
Today, I was listening to Stevie Wonder, in my home. I decided to carry my phone as I walked the dogs, tuned in to YouTube. The whole walk, I played this song, over and over and for the first time, Stella walked by all the things, she never would before, without a hitch. The music seemed to soothe her. It’s a happy song.
What I realized is, that dogs are creatures of habit. They also pick up on our energy, be it good, bad, happy or sad. We also, are creatures of habit. I am sure, as I walked by the fearful things, my energy, without knowing, turned into an anticipation of knowing she wouldn’t walk by. With the music playing, my energy was uplifted and once I noticed she was different, I focused on the music, instead of the fearful “monsters,” and she followed my lead. I also sang along with Stevie, so she could hear my voice with him.
Now. I just must hope the neighbors will accept, hearing that same song each time I walk her, as I sing along too! Small miracles happen!
Now, how can we take this experience to our own lives? Remember, that we are creatures of habit and, in order to change, we must change. If we want to get over fears, we must step in with faith by focusing on, what it is that we want, instead of what we don’t want.
Just like Stella, and her fears, I had to focus on the music, instead of the anticipation of, what she might not do. Once I did, the miracle happened.
Life is only worth living, when we have hope. It is true, that HOPE always seems to resurface, right when we are about to give up!
Keep pushing through those fears, and the miracle of new hope will find you!
I hope you enjoyed my little miracle! Please share my little story, and give some hope to either your friends who are going through a tough time, or share it for their fur babies who struggle with fear.
Thank you for stopping by today, and say hello in the comments and share your little miracles! We all can use inspiration! When we open our hearts, we learn from those savage beasts!
Incidentally, Stella’s new song is “I Just Called to Say I Love You” by Stevie Wonder. and I also played, "I Love You Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel!
To your success, rock it!
